Reducing Emissions
Several of Extraction’s development projects utilize Tankless Facilities that eliminate storage tanks during production and the need for trucks to transport oil and natural gas. This air-tight, closed-loop system captures 99.9% of air emissions. Extraction’s Tankless Facilities eliminate venting from tanks, millions of truck miles, noise, dust and visual impacts to the community.
Extraction pioneered the use of an electric-powered drilling rig in Colorado, which greatly increases efficiency and reduces noise and exhaust associated with traditional rigs powered by diesel‐fueled generators.
Extraction uses odorless drilling mud when necessary, reducing odors and impact to neighbors.
For all existing tanked locations, Extraction uses Vapor Recovery Units that ensure emissions are captured from storage facilities.
To further uphold air quality, Extraction performs around-the-clock, continuous air monitoring where necessary and monthly thermal-imaging audits to detect the smallest of pinhole leaks.
Extraction voluntarily decommissions legacy vertical wells in many of its developments, reducing emissions from old oil and gas development sites. Responsibly plugging and reclaiming these wells removes old storage tanks and restores the land for other uses.
Extraction implements fully programmed safety systems to facilitate automatic shutdowns and prevent incidents that could impact air quality before they occur.

Biodiversity & Land Use
Extraction works in close collaboration with communities to site our operations, often committing to locations and best management practices in the form of operator agreements.
Extraction consolidates its operations into single, multi-well pads to reduce the amount of land disturbed for energy development.

As part of its agreement with the City and County of Broomfield, Extraction will return 33 acres of open space land to the local community.
Extraction has partnered with the Butterfly Pavilion in Broomfield to ensure land currently under development is preserved for future pollinator habitat to attract butterflies, bees and other pollinators.

Safeguarding Water
A baseline sampling of ground water is conducted within a half-mile radius of Extraction’s sites before and after operations.
