Financial Accountant

Job Summary
Financial accountant is responsible for the day to day maintenance of the books and records that support the Company’s general ledger and collects, analyzes, and reports financial data to management.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assists in the day to day maintenance of the general ledger and related sub-ledgers with emphasis on high risk and complex accounting areas
  • Responds to financial inquiries by collecting, analyzing, and reporting relevant data
  • Assists in preparing monthly financial statements and periodic financial reporting requirements
  • Analyzes and evaluates complex, non-routine transactions
  • Performs account reconciliations and analyses for high risk accounting areas
  • Conducts more complex month-end close procedures including preparing journal entries related to areas of higher accounting risk
  • Maintains evidence of controls performed and assists in the SOX testing process
  • Identifies internal control deficiencies and develops procedures to remediate accordingly
  • Assists in the external and internal audit process by preparing schedules and analyses in while addressing questions that arise during company audits

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience public or industry accounting
  • CPA or Masters in Accounting preferred
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Self-starting, detailed, results oriented team player
  • Strong organizational skills with significant attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Proficiency in Excalibur and Workiva a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Normal office setting
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time and work on computer
